Service

We love serving in the community and last year had over 16,000 service hours in the community.

We have three major areas of emphasis in our chapter.

Veterans and Active-Duty Service Personnel:

We support both the DAR Project Patriot for active-duty personnel and the DAR Service for Veterans committees. We have gathered food for the Veteran’s pantry, filled Christmas stockings with hygiene items, treats and games, and supported both the Fisher House and Valor House on the Veteran’s Hospital campus.

Education:

We support the Community in the Classroom Committee by sponsoring the Hartvigsen Special Needs School. Service projects include making file folder games, sewing repairs to swimsuits, donating towels for the therapeutic swimming pool, and making clothing covers and lap blankets.

Children and Youth:

We offer several contests, awards, and scholarships for children and youth, including: American History essay contest for students 5th-8th grades.; Jr ROTC Bronze Medal to a High School cadet; Good Citizen Award and cash scholarship for an outstanding graduating senior.
